Cardboard Chair Project
During my undergraduate studies in design we were tasked with using only cardboard and glue to create a chair that could hold over 150 pounds of weight. Through many iterations, I settled on a minimalist stack style design. The chair consisted of 72 individually laser cut layers of cardboard, accumulating in over 500 square feet of cardboard. The chair not only held over 150 pounds of weight but also rocked back and forth without crumpling under the stress. This project tested my skills for designing physical objects, optimized for utility and aesthetics.
